The Blogging Community

Over the pass few years, the development of platforms such as Facebook and Twitter has brought blogs into a new dimension and many have formed their own ‘online communities’ (Anthony 2009). What is a blogging community? Basically blogging communities are host sites which enable a person to create their own blogs using the service provided. It is a blog where the public are able to visit and give their suggestion, comments and ask question.

According to White (2006), there are three types of community blogs
- Single blogger centric community (a community which develops around a single blogger)
- Topic centric community (a community of blogs about a particular topic of interest)
- Boundaried community (a collection of blogs and blog readers hosted on a single site or platform)

An example of a single blogger centric community is http://hannahyeoh.blogspot.com/

This blogs touches on political aspects and revolves around Hannah Yeoh’s thoughts and opinions. Viewers are free to visit the blog to suggest and comment on issues which are occurring or the work that she does. Lastly, it is Hannah’s decision to allow or disallow comments which are being posted. The reason for this is to prevent offensive comments and preventing problems from occurring.
