With the emergence of Web 2.0, the usage of the internet has increased massive and this has boost the popularity and usage of Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Star Online and much more. Why are these new forms of media so popular? According to Naughton (2006), the web is a pull medium. This simply means that people are attracted to the web because they are in charge of what they view and control the flow of information. According to Kress & van Leeuwen (2006), the layout and design are the most important elements in attracting the audiences which they are able to relate to. This is how Facebook and Youtube get their audiences as their design is attractive enough.
Here are some examples.

New trends today such as the use of Facebook has definitely altered the way people communicate with one another. Youtube, Facebook and Twitter has altered the roles of journalism as people believe that the information on the web is more trustable these days compared to information provided by the mainstream media. With Youtube and such, we care able to see what we want to see as a whole rather than what the government wants us to see as citizens on the mainstream media such as television and government owned newspaper.
As Facebook and Twitter are the latest trends, almost everyone would use it as they want to be in the “group”. This is also an efficient way on how information can be spread quickly and efficiently. Information on these websites are not controllable by the government as they are not able to have power over the people’s voices.
