It seems like the new iPhone is not only a new media for entertainment alone. The US President, Barack Obama used the iPhone in many different ways to gain support from the people. The iPhone has a wide range of application and uses which enable its user to surf the web, conduct multiple calls at the same time and such. Shiels (2008) agreed that US President Barack Obama used iPhone’s application “Call Friends” to help increase his number of votes.

According to Norman (1990), the audience, purpose and context theory comes into play. In this issue, the audience for Barack Obama’s campaign was the Americans who are voting in the country. This was focused in American only where the votes comes from. Schriver (1997) stated that the audience’s impression is a key for being convinced which could learn to political success. The purpose for this is to gain votes which were a successful method as we all could see. For context, America is a very developed country as we all know and Barack Obama using an iPhone could relate him to the Americans.

Barack Obama has used the iPhone as one of his ways in gaining the people’s support and votes. His campaign was well organized and the usage of iPhone keeps him connected to his people. As Barack Obama is an influential person, voters would definitely believe that he could bring change to the development of the country and leading America for the greater good. This shows how technology and people are able to work together in an issue for a great outcome.
